  • Probably a storage enclosure.
  • It's amazing to realize that these people actually traded with the rest of Europe, all the way to the Mediterranean, mostly bronze produced from the tin and copper mines throughout southern England.
  • The remains of the surrounding wall, probably ten feet wide and originally five or so feet high, topped with wooden fencing.
  • Wistman's Wood in the distance. The surrounding landscape is typical Dartmoor "forest". Sheep and cattle have long since eliminated the trees.
  • The thought is that this forest, and others like it, survived because the boulders kept out the cattle.
